Slovenia’s foreign trade surplus increased in January from a year ago, as exports rose and imports fell, preliminary figures from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia showed Friday.

The trade surplus rose notably to EUR 158.8 million in January from EUR 25.2 million in the corresponding month last year.

In December, the trade balance showed a shortfall of EUR 61.8 million.

Exports grew 2.3 percent year-over-year in January, while imports declined by 5.2 percent.
