Consumer prices in South Korea were up just 0.6 percent on year in September, Statistics Korea said on Friday as price growth remained below 1.0 percent for the 10th straight month.

That was below expectations for 0.9 percent and down from 0.7 percent in August.

On a monthly basis, inflation dipped 0.2 percent versus expectations for a gain of 0.2 percent – which would have been unchanged.

Core inflation, which excludes the volatile costs of food, eased 0.1 percent on month and climbed 2.1 percent on year in September.
