Spanish consumer prices declined for the fourth straight month in November, though at a slower-than-expected pace, preliminary data from the statistical office INE revealed Friday.

The consumer price index fell 0.3 percent year-over-year in November, slower than previous month’s 0.7 percent decrease. Economists had expected a 0.5 percent drop for the month.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3 percent in November, exceeding economists’ expectations for a 0.2 percent increase.

The EU measure of inflation, or HICP, dropped 0.4 percent annually in November, below economists’ forecast for a 0.7 percent decline. In October, prices had fallen 0.9 percent.

Month-on-month, the harmonized index of consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent in November, while it was expected to remain flat.
