Spain’s producer prices declined further in December, but at a slower pace than in the prior month, figures from the statistical office INE showed Monday.

The producer price index fell 2.2 percent year-over-year in December, after a 2.6 percent decrease in November. Producer prices have been falling since July 2014.

Energy prices dropped the most by 7.9 percent in December from a year ago, followed by intermediate goods with 1.7 percent fall.

At the same time, prices in the consumer goods sector grew 0.6 percent and that for capital goods sector registered an increase of 0.9 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices slid 0.7 percent in December, which was worse than the 0.1 percent slight drop in the preceding month. It was the fifth month of decrease in a row.
