Retail sales grew by calendar-adjusted 2.2 percent year-on-year, slower than November’s 3.3 percent increase and a 3 percent rise forecast by economists.

On an unadjusted basis, retail sales growth eased to 3.2 percent from 4.2 percent in preceding month.

Month-on-month, retail sales recovered on food turnover, after easing in November. Sales gained 0.2 percent following a 0.6 percent drop.

Food sales climbed 0.9 percent on month, while non-food sales fell 0.5 percent in December.

In 2015 as a whole, retail sales climbed 3.6 percent from a year ago.
