Following Hillary Clinton's "Romney 47%" moment last night, mainstream media has been awkwardly quiet about her 'deplorables' comments…

"you know, just to be grossly generalist, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables."

“Right?” she said as the crowd laughed and applauded. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it,” Clinton continued. “And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people — now have 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric.”

To which, one twitter wit noted…

However, Donald Trump, perhaps reflecting on Clinton's own words decrying "name-calling" has raged back, asking rhetoically, "how can she be President when she shows such contempt and disdain for so many great Americans?"..

“Isn’t it disgraceful that Hillary Clinton makes the worst mistake of the political season and instead of owning up to this grotesque attack on American voters, she tries to turn it around with a pathetic rehash of the words and insults she used in her failing campaign?"

“For the first time in a long while, her true feelings came out, showing bigotry and hatred for millions of Americans,” Trump said in his statement.

“She should be ashamed of herself, and this proves beyond doubt that she is unfit and incapable to serve as President of the United States.”

As The Hill reports, in an RNC press call later on Saturday, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) said Clinton's comments showed her "elitist" perspective on the country.

"I think Hillary Clinton got caught, she has given us an insight into an elitist attitude and what the elites think about normal, everyday, hardworking Americans who are sick and tired of what is going on in this country," Blackburn said.

This is so similar to what buried Mitt Romney, it is sad to behold the lack of media coverage of such a comment… and it is even more ironic as we are reminded by James Woods of Hillary's own comments…

But Hillary is trying to play Trump at his own game – and with one tweet invalidates her earlier apology

That did not work out well for 16 Republican presidential candidates.
